Hanford Reach Salmon Fishing W/ D&H Guide Service
Back in October my son and I ventured off to Washington State for a few days of fishing with my Dad. We hooked up with Dan from D&H Guide Service on the Columbia River for some King Salmon action and had a blast. The Hanford Reach is the only remaining free flowing portion of the the Columbia River and its right next to the Hanford Nuclear site. The fishing was fun and it was great seeing my son catch his first two Salmon.

Morakniv Floating Knife Review - Great for Fishing?
Просмотров 5 тыс.3 года назад
A few months back I got my hands on one of the newest knives from Morakniv to test out. I started liking this knife right off the bat due to its nice cork handles which are very grippy even in wet conditions. Due to those cork handles and the fact that this ultra light weight knife floats, I think this could be a great fishing knife for some folks out there. Here is more information on the Mora...
Early Fall Fishing on Clear Lake - 5 Things I Learned!

Fall is officially upon us even though some of the temps in Northern California don't feel that way. I was recently able to meet up with a few buddies and camp and fish at Clear Lake for a few days. Franks Tract Summer Time Kayak Bass Fishing

The dog days of summer have set in here in Northern California and I was able to squeeze in one last trip on the California Delta before the smoke from the wildfires set in. So far August has been pretty decent fishing on the California Delta. Early August Bass Fishing on the California Delta can be tough. The "bullet button" was one of those work-arounds that made ARs legal, for a while. Legislators caught on. They're illegal now - part of the continuing ping-pong game gun-owners play with them. Its an enormous disservice these tyrannical clowns impose on those they "represent."

Maglite do not last long with brand new D batteries and you've got me one good swing in a maglite p, but I have a wooden billy club and I also have a blackjack and both of them are far superior to a maglite if you want to injure somebody and not have the thing taken away from you. They can be swung swiftly and they're hard to get ahold of a maglite if a guy is really motivated he can put his hands up and best case scenarios you're really cracking the forearms but the reality is megalodons if you're fighting a tough guy who knows what he's doing he's not a great self defense weapon and it's not even a good flashlight frankly I should know I own three of them a solar a blue and a black I only purchased one of them and the others I came to own because people I know left them at my place and never reclaimed them I have a bunch of friends who are police officers who have a number of these mag lights to I don't know any of them who have ever really used in the subdue a suspect although they say they have partners who have done thatif you're a cop and you have a guy that's not going to fight back and just sit there and take it then that lights are probably good but I don't think a lot is a great budgeting tool if that's what your game is and as far as a good flashlight it's not a good flashlight unless you're using it in the first hour or two because these things chew through D batteries very quickly I can only assume that police officers are reloading these things with fresh batteries every time they go out. D batteries can also be very expensive so if you're using a magnet on a daily basis for a couple hours at a time you're going through 340 batteries I'm sorry 3 to 6 Dbatteries depending on the length every 2 hours or so I don't know if it's a shity bulb if you're going to place the ball then get a longer lasting effect out of the batteries but it goes for being fairly bright like 170 lumens and after a few hours you've got this yellowish shity flashlight with no real power so it ends up a lasting a lot longer than the 2 hours but you only have 2 hours for a really functions well.

I use a sealed torpedo bobber with eyes on each end. That way you can add a swivel so the line doesn't twist. And a net so you don't touch the fish with your dry hands. 55 years ago.

The way you handled the fishes in this video is disgraceful!( If you know you are clumsy, then at least hold that fish over the water, not the rocks, or in the best case scenario just use waders for God's sake.

Thats the way to do it. You have to stake all the spots. True. Sides first. Then center ridge pole 90% bring both sides up. Back to center. Can be done. Not without staking the tent though. Great video chris.

Dan, just watched your video on paddles. I received a Moray fiberglass paddle when I bought the inflatable kayak. The kayak is an Advanced Elements EVO which is 24 " wide and 13' long sit in. I am 82 years old but want a good paddle, recommendations please. Sure cost is an issue, but if it helps, then it is worth it, meaning my priority is on performance for a recreational paddler so that I can explore further. Would appreciate any reply, Thanks Eugene

Definitely a great introduction! I have a sting Ray and manta ray that I live. Might’ve gone a bit more up the food chain had I seen this first! But on the budget side, I’ve been super impressed with the Quest Vapor at $80. It’s solid, flexible sizing, comfortable…it’s my daughter’s and she likes it better than mine which cost twice as much. What impressed me the most is the lack of rattling when shaken. A lot of cheaper paddles rattle and that means energy is lost on each stroke. Same with flexing paddle heads. Energy spent overcoming the flex is energy not going into propulsion. And as was mentioned, rigidity helps with steering. I’m gunning for a good list of gear at different price points. Frankly, the Vapor at $80 brings more contentment than some of the pricier bits. Also for a data point. My yak is 28” wide as I recall. I sit low and stand at a “towering” 5’7”…210-215 cm seems to be my best length. A little short by your comments, but I bury the whole paddle head so I think it’s okay. Good stuff, gentlemen!

Trout love to see the fly above the water. Adult females lay their eggs on the water's surface, and trout watch, as they approach. If you learn to fly cast a dry fly with just monofilament, it will allow you to give some action to the fly. You only get about 15' max casting distance, but, you'll do well at the 8' to 12'-range. Let gravity and the breeze carry the dry fly, then make the fly have the smallest movements on the water surface. I've had fish bite a fly several inches above the water, it is quite exciting. My first experience catching trout was a 5.5' spin-set-up, dry fly, probably 8lb monofilament. It gives you tons of control to, roll-cast (spey-ish,) and it is very nice for a bow-cast (short rod). If you use a tippet, you will have more ability to turn-over your loop. All the technical trout fly fishing can be done up close, some of it can be done at a distance. The pocket-water gives the angler some cover from the fish. Getting around using fly line isn't that much of an issue, when you are basically casting about 3' of it and a long leader. Stick to flies that have a tuft of calf-hair for a wing. The calf-hair is very easy for the angler to see, and they float fine in choppy water. Anything with lots of wrapped hackle is a favorite for free-stone streams where flies tend to sink.
